Todo mundo que ouve o album "Sociedade da Grã-Ordem Kavernista", certamente repara nos vocais femininos. São da Miriam. O que ninguém imagina é que ela é branquela! Sim, descendente direta de italianos que moravam no Bexiga! Isso, aquele bairro de São Paulo, simples, italiano... Essa mulher, Miriam Angela La Vecchia é uma sambista de marca maior, uma cantora de timbre único e dicção impecável (vide a canção "Tudo em P"). Este álbum lançado na Continental em 1974, até o que me consta, é o primeiro disco solo de sua carreira. Sei que ela tem vários compactos (um deles está incluido, nos bônus, o "Diabo no corpo", composição de Sérgio Sampaio) e pelo menos um álbum posterior. Quem arranjar, podia mandar aí pra nós todos, hein? Então, essa sujeita carregou para o Rio de Janeiro seu repertório de sambas do Bexiga e da Mooca, e foi lá então que ela topou com Raul Seixas, Sérgio Sampaio e Edy Star, que juntos, num fim de semana gravaram (escondidos dos donos da CBS) o antológico e hoje famoso "Sociedade da Grã-Ordem Kavernista" (não custa citar de novo, esse disco é maravilhoso, acha-se fácil pra baixar por aí). Daí pra frente teve uma carreira que não se consolidou no grande mercado, mas era famosa no metiê artístico, chegando até a estrelar (pasmem, ao lado de Grande Otelo!) o programa de TV "Samba e coisa e tal". Dizem que a presença cênica dela era muito boa. Alguém tem vídeos disso por aí? Certamente ela devia ser atriz, pois fez um bocado de comerciais por aí (dá uma olhadinha, você vai lembrar da cara dela!), e muitas aparições na TV! Dê uma olhada no YouTube, achei este mais legal, onde ela explica sua marca registrada, a técnica do "pandeiro de mão":

É mais uma artista brasileira que não tem seu devido valor reconhecido até hoje, e também em sua época. Se os ouvidos do mundo fossem iguais aos meus, essa mulher tinha lugar ao lado da Elis Regina, sem tirar nem pôr. E morreu jovem, aos 47 anos. Resquiceant in pace.

Everyone that hears the album "Sociedade da Grã-Ordem Kavernista" ("The great caveman's society"), certainly notices the female vocals. They're Miriam's. What no one imagines is that she's a whithey! Yes, descendant of an italian family that lived in São Paulo neighborhood Bexiga! Yes, that São Paulo neighborhood wich is simple and italian... This woman, Miriam Angela La Vecchia is a great sambist, a singer of unique timber and great diction (note the song "Tudo em P", "Everyting's in P"). This album was released in the Continental label in 1974, and as far as i know, it's the first solo album in her career. I know she has various singles (one of them in this compilation, the bonus "Diabo no corpo" "Devil in the body"), a Sérgio Sampaio composition) and at least one posterior album. Who has it, could send it to us, huh? So, this woman grabs her samba repertoire from Bexiga and Mooca neighborhoods in São Paulo and takes them to Rio de Janeiro, and there she met with Raul Seixas, Sérgio Sampaio and Edy Star, whom together, in one single weekend recorded (hidden from the CBS owners) the anthologic and nowadays famous "Sociedade da Grã-Ordem Kavernista" ("The great caveman's society") (i don't care to say that again, this record is fabulous, and you find it easy to download around). From there, she couldn't make a solid career in the big market, but she was famous in the artistic media, she even hosted a TV show called "Samba e coisa e tal" ("Samba and all of that") (side by side with Grande Otelo, one of the most amazing brazilian actors). It's mouth of word that she had a great scenic presence. Does anybody has videos of that around? Certainly she must have been an actress, because she made quite a few commercials around (just take a look, brazilian folks must remember her!) and lots of appearances on TV! Take a look at YouTube, i found this one most interesting, where she describes her singular technique of the "hand-clapped-tambourine". (video above)

Yet another brazilian artist who doesn't has it's proper valuation until nowadays, and also at her age. If the ears of the world where like mine, this woman would have her place besides of Elis Regina, no more, no less. And she died young, at her 47. Resquiceant in pace.
